What happens when Peri and her younger brother Luke both find themselves attracted to the magnetic, slightly dangerous Max?
Penelope comments:
Writing every second chapter, I enjoyed finding Luke’s odd nine-year-old view of the world, unhooking the hyper-rational part of the brain, just feeling and sensing for a change, and looking at the world, as we all did as children, from unusual angles. There’s the view from the tree, but also in the back of my mind was our son who is a visceral learner; he builds his life from the ground up and won’t be beguiled by theory or abstract ideas. He teaches me a lot.
